Spotify Canvas

Description

Canvas is a tool from Spotify which allows short, looping videos to be attached to tracks via the Spotify for Artists dashboard. These videos are then displayed on mobile devices while the track is playing.

Canvas is an 8-second visual loop you can add to any track in Now Playing view. It’s a new format for artistic expression on Spotify.

Spotify FAQ

Availability

The tool is currently in a beta testing phase with access being granted to a small number of artists. We are able to nominate artists to take part in the beta program so speak to your label manager for more information if you are interested.

To be eligible for nomination, artists must have a significant new release scheduled or releases within the past 3 months. The artist profile must have been claimed as a Spotify for Artists account and the applying label must exclusively represent the artist’s entire catalogue.

Applications are limited and acceptance on to the program is not guaranteed, so Canvas nominations will be made entirely at Kudos’ discretion. Artists with high Spotify follower numbers and monthly listener counts will be given precedence as these applications are more likely to be successful.

If your artist does not meet the above eligibility requirements to be nominated for early access, they can sign up to the general waiting list here.

Examples

You should see a looping video on the player page of the Spotify app when playing the following tracks on a mobile device.

Becoming – Mammal Hands
