Fulfilment-Only Option (aka “Pick & Pack”)

With this option Kudos will purely as a fulfilment partner for your Bandcamp store. You will be responsible for setting up items you wish to sell through bandcamp – following our specifications to ensure the identifiers we need to process your orders and manage stock levels are completed correctly.

All Bandcamp options are offered to labels at the sole discretion of Kudos Records. We will consider factors such as the number and type of items you wish to make available for sale and whether or not any items are manufactured under a P&D deal with Kudos.

Due to VAT regulations which apply to UK fulfilment houses, we are unable to offer this service to companies based outside the United Kingdom. However, Kudos can handle Bandcamp sales for labels based in non-UK countries under the distribution option.

There is no change to the way you receive payment for Bandcamp sales. Payments are made directly to your account by Bandcamp, subject to their normal payment procedures and fee structures. You will remain responsible for managing customer services issues and refunds etc. The fulfilment charges will be billed to you separately by Kudos and you will be required to set up a Direct Debit agreement.

You will add Kudos as a UK fulfilment partner on your store so that our system automatically receives the order data when a customer purchases a physical item from your store. Kudos will then pick, pack and dispatch from our UK warehouse. At the point of dispatch an invoice is generated detailing your fulfilment charges and postage costs. Fulfilment fees are calculated at £2.50 per order, plus £0.50 per item, plus the postage costs at our standard rates published here (which is designed to minimise postage for multiple items and closely track the actual cost of postage via royal mail).

We recommend that you reference our published postage rates when setting the postage costs on your store. You will probably want to ensure that the amount your customers pay you for shipping will cover the postage charged to you by Kudos (but not necessarily the fulfilment fees). However, you are free to set your own shipping rates. You may choose to offer reduced shipping rates and subsidise the P&P charged to your customers or alternatively use increased shipping rates to further offset against the fulfilment charges.

A UK-based customer purchases 1 x LP @ £25.

These examples are for illustration only. The payment fees shown are realistic at the time of writing but in practice they will vary from one transaction to the next.

We have ignored VAT in order to simplify the sales in the examples above. Please see notes below;

Labels registered for UK VAT – You are responsible for remitting the appropriate VAT to HMRC on your tax return. We suggest that you set Bandcamp merch prices “net” and elect to add tax at the checkout in your Bandcamp store settings. The VAT charged by Kudos on your fulfilment invoices can be reclaimed on your VAT return. Please seek advice from your accountant.

Labels not registered for VAT – Bear in mind that, although you will not charge VAT on your Bandcamp sales, UK VAT will apply to your fulfilment invoices from Kudos so you should factor this in when setting your Bandcamp merch and shipping prices.
