When you have completed your release on the portal it will be submitted to your label manager for approval. It is vital that release metadata conforms to the exacting standards set by digital retailers.
If a release does not meet the required metadata standard, your label manager will fail your releases and send it back to you for re-editing.
A note about track length.
There are a few things to bare in mind when considering long tracks and continuous mixes for digital.
- On most streaming services you receive the same income per track regardless if track length.
- In the US and Canada, publishing royalties on downloads are based partially on track length, so you could find yourself in a situation where you are paying (or owing) more for the Publishing than you have earned on the Master rights !
So, to maximise your income on streaming services and to avoid being hit with excessive US publishing, you are better splitting a long track into separate, shorter tracks.
